Corgi Mario Bros. Figures Images Update
     
As promised, Corig has sent over full color images of their upcoming Mario Bros. Mini Series Collection. To recap, there will be 24 figures released in all. The figures will range from 2cm to 15cm tall! There will be 6 figures per wave spread out over the course of 2008. Sideshow Gets Darkman!
 From Sideshow Collectibles: Thousand Oaks, California - World leader in the manufacturing of licensed and proprietary product, Sideshow Collectibles has signed to create a new line of product for Darkman. The superhero is the original creation of writer/director Sam Raimi who debuted the character on the big screen in the 1990 Universal Studios release, Darkman. After the box-office success of the film, two sequels were released, Darkman II: The Return of Durant and Darkman III: Die, Darkman, Die. The franchise has since grown to include comic books, video games, and action figures. Sideshow's license will allow the production of 12-inch Figures, Premium Format Figures, and Busts depicting the Darkman character. Scientist Peyton Westlake is working to perfect a synthetic skin replacement for burn and accident victims when he is caught in a fiery explosion at the hands of the evil mobster Durant. An experimental procedure ends Westlake's ability to feel pain, and he becomes a first-hand test subject for the synthetic. Using masks of the synthetic to hide in the shadows, he fights against the evils of Durant's gang while fighting his own dark and violent tendencies. Intent on exacting his revenge, Peyton Westlake takes on the guise of the masked crime fighter known as Darkman. |

First and foremost, we are not changing what the G.I. Joe brand is about. The name “G.I. Joe” will always be synonymous with bravery and heroism. The G.I. Joe brand has enjoyed a successful 43-year history, spanning two key generations. The first was the line of 12-inch “realistic military” figures that were popular with kids in the 1960s and 1970s. The second generation, was created in 1982, and is based on a cast of fictional heroes and villains that make up the “G.I. Joe vs. Cobra” fantasy. The premise of this fantasy is the story of the G.I. Joe team, led by Duke, and their “fight for freedom wherever there is trouble” against the evil Cobra Commander and his Cobra force. This storyline was an instant hit with kids in the early 1980s, spawning a highly popular 3-3/4-inch action figure line, comic book collection and animated series. This movie will be a modern telling of the “G.I. Joe vs. Cobra” storyline and its compelling characters that Hasbro created 25 years ago. The G.I. Joe team will not be based in Brussels. Instead, they will be based out of the “Pit” as they were throughout the 1980s comic book series. And, in keeping with the G.I. Joe vs. Cobra fantasy, the movie will feature characters and locations from around the world. Duke, the lead character and head of the G.I. Joe team, will embody the values of bravery and heroism that the first generation of G.I. Joe figures established. G.I. Sideshow Gets Shuan of the Dead!
  
From Sideshow Collectibles: Thousand Oaks, California - World-renowned manufacturer of licensed and proprietary product Sideshow Collectibles has signed to create a new line of products based on the award winning zombie comedy Shaun of the Dead. First released in the United Kingdom in April of 2004, the Studio Canal film reached the United States the following September and quickly became a genre classic. Though the US release of the film was limited to fewer than seven hundred theaters, Shaun of the Dead garnered over thirteen million dollars at the US box office and just under thirty million dollars worldwide. Collectoberfest: A SUCCESS!
 AFC World would like to thank those of you who attended the Collectoberfest in Fishkill, NY this past Sunday! It was wonderful to have the chance to meet some of our readers and members in person. Nothing beats great toy talk with collectors and fans that are as passionate about this hobby as we are. Thank you all once again! Also, a big thanks to the Collectorfest staff who put together a fantastic show and made everything run as smooth as could be for AFC World and everyone else involved. The Collectorfest folks will be running another show in Philadelphia, PA coming up on November 24th and 25th at the New Alhambra Arena (otherwise know as "The ECW Arena").
